This is a standard HTML index page using a PHP extension. Index pages can also be referred to as home pages. Home pages don’t always
have to be named index, they can also be called default pages.
The benefit to using the PHP extension is the ability to include separate PHP files within one page.
This ability can save webmasters a great deal of time by allowing them to create content a file once
and include it in multiple pages site wide. So not only do you save time on the initial creation
of such pages, anytime you wish to change that file, it will now be changed every place it is
included.
It’s important to have at least a default page in all of your directories so the file contents of said directory won’t be exposed should someone
accidentally stumble upon your vacant directory.
This is a footer. This file can easily be included in all webpages site wide by using PHP’s include_once function.
You can also add useful information such as copyright or contact information.
